Sunnybrook's Summer Sessions provide a healthy balance between summer fun and summer learning. Outdoor play is filled with art, sports and water activities. Academic programs are coupled with free play activities for an exciting and challenging experience! Guest Speakers, Field Trips and School Spirit Days make Sunnybrook Montessori the place to be!

We welcome you to our Summer Sessions at Sunnybrook Montessori. Our Summer Sessions are organized into 2 week sessions, with exciting themes and activities. In accordance with your family’s summer vacation schedule, you may elect to sign up for all 5 sessions or just the ones you need.

Your child will be placed in the program with peers, from their current student group. (Summer placements may or may not concur with Fall placements, but every effort will be made to provide the best arrangement and consistency for every student.)

Sunnybrook Montessori’s Summer Sessions provide children an opportunity to relax from the rigors of the academic year in an an exciting and challenging learning environement. Daily activities include opportunities for fun and relaxation as well as structured learning experiences. Our program focuses on various themes in unique and exciting ways! Summer staff use daily lessons, arts and crafts, science projects, field trips (when age appropriate) and more to explore exciting themes. Individual and group projects will be encouraged. Special guests related to out unit studies visit Sunnybrook children for fun and entertainment!

Our Summer Program includes ample daily “free” time, for children to engage in social activities and imaginative play. Special summer events, such as “Sprinkler Day”, cooking and gardening are regularly scheduled. Music is included in the daily routine. Activities are offered based on developmental needs and age appropriateness. Academics are also offered, emphasizing reading and math. Schedules vary from class to class.

Back to Nature (6/23-7/3)
Dust off those hiking boots, light those lanterns and pack those sleeping bags, we’re off to go camping in the great outdoors! Learn how to set up a tent, go on a scavenger hunt, identify wild animal tracks, listen for bird calls and study native plants, sing camp songs, tell stories ‘round the fire and enjoy those s’mores! No dress clothes required here, prepare to enjoy the experience that is camping!

Construction Creations (7/7-7/18)
From the moment the architect lays pen to paper and the logger fells the first tree, construction is a coordinated process of skill, talent and ability resulting in a amazing masterpieces! Budding builders, dabbling developers, intuitive interior designers, and adventurous architects join us to explore the fascinating world of construction! Learn about the community of people that come together, sharing their best talents! Come join us and build your own idea. Imagine what you will build, draw a blueprint, choose your materials and make your idea a reality! Listen to experts in the construction industry share the excitement of creating from the foundations to the rooftops!

Let the Games Begin! (7/21-8/1)
Baseball, Crazy Eights, Soccer, Gymnastics Gymnastics, Tae Kwon Do, Basketball, Checkers, Tennis, Badmitton, bowling, golf, the possibilities are endless! Be sure to wear your tennis shoes as we explore all sorts of games, games, games ! Twist at Twister, hop at hopscotch and jump over that jump rope! Learn good sportsmanship, teamwork and working one on one to improve your play! Local high school athletes will join us for an upfront demonstration and some one on one coaching meant to inspire young learners!

Creatures of the Sea (8/4-8/15)
Join us on a voyage of learning as we get to know our salt water friends. Ask: How long is the blue whale? How many tentacles does the octopus have? Does that sea star feel scratchy? How does the sea anomne eat it’s dinner? On our trip we’ll search deep and far to uncover as we prepare to go on a field trip, to meet our new friends hands on!

Books Alive! (8/18-8/28)
A good book is a journey, a gift seeking life! This session we will wiggle with Eric Carle, share with Shel Silverstien and snicker with Dr Suess as we bring our favorite stories alive through art creations, musical exploration, and play acting. Is improvisation an interest? Fabulous! Can’t wait to create with you?
