A Tradition of Giving...
The Parent Advisory Board is a parent and community association that is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. The PAB coordinates the volunteer and fundraising efforts of Montessori Children's House. Donations made to PAB are therefore tax deductible to the fullest extent as set by the Internal Revenue Service.

Dedicated to the Community
Sunnybrook Montessori's PAB is a community of individuals who support the school in many ways. This shared commitment is a tradition at MCH that enables the school to enhance existing programs and realize its mission. The philanthropic tradition of giving to non-profits corporations allows Sunnybrook to provide the extras that tuition does not cover. Tuition covers basic operating expenses. Fundraising is an effective way of supplementing amenities, which are not covered by tuition.
The high standards we have come to expect at Sunnybrook can only be maintained through the active support of its community. Parental participation in fundraising and volunteer efforts certainly impacts the quality if life at Sunnybrook and in the greater Montessori community.
Sunnybrook makes a commitment to keep tuition rates as low as possible. Offering the finest in Montessori education to as many as possible at an affordable rate is one of the goals of the school. Raising tuition, and therefore excluding a significant portion of families, is not consistent with who we are and what we are all about.
Volunteer giving keeps tuition reasonable, helps families save on their taxes, and helps to create the climate of giving that is so important to the viability of the school.
Capital Campaigns
Sunnybrook allocates approximately $2000 per year out of its operating budget toward capital improvements. During a specific capital campaign, MCH will contribute up to one-quarter of the expense of a project (not to exceed this budgeted amount). The remainder comes from the generous contributions of parents. Capital Campaigns improve the physical and educational environment of the school. Appropriate capital campaigns might include: additions to the outdoor learning environment such as the covered play yard, playground equipment/structures, the addition of an elementary program, etc.
Parental Participation
MCH welcomes parental participation through gifts, fundraising, and volunteering efforts. It is suggested that each family either contributes $200 or more each year or participates in 20 hours of volunteer activities.
For families who do not prefer to volunteer their time, a cash donation or a gift of stock (for which you may receive tax benefits) is acceptable. Many donors realize substantial tax advantages by transferring gifts of appreciated stock to a non-profit. Capital gains on the amount of appreciation are avoided and the donor receives a tax deduction for the stock's full market value.
We also invite families to contribute by participating in the success of our fundraisers.
